1. Between 10 a.Tq. and 12:30 p.i. on 16 December 1952, 25 Pc-2s and 2 single-
engine fighters with in--lane engines, single rudder assemblies and three-
bladed propellers were parked in one row south of the hanar at Biala
Podlaska (S 53/14 46) airfield. All planes bore the Polish national emblem.
The Po-2s had white numbers under the-national emblem on the rudder assembly
and a white stripe about 10 cm wide at the rear edge of the rudder assembly.
The Nos 1, 5, 6, and 8 were identi 'ied. At abo%:t 11 a.m,, a Po.-2 plane
took off from the apron ira front of the hangar toward the south while there
was a westerly wind. The plane was airborne after about 200 meters, climbed
to about 30'" meters, turned to the east at an angle of 180 degrees, descended
to about 3 meters above the a;roand south of the hangar, and then climbed again.
This e fereise was repeated :,bout ter. times. Three additional. Po-2s conducted
the same exercise. Al Manes landed between .the hangar ':nd the runway at
about noon and subsequently taxied to F`-:-; parking area near the hangar. Between
about 1 and 4 p.m. on 3 and 4 January 1953, no air activity was observed at
the field. On both days, ab-ut 30 Po-2s and 2 single--engine f:' ghters were
parked in one row south of ',-,I e 1angar. In the ea-ly morn: ng of 18 and 28
Decenber and in the even` -0g on 26 December, no eet,ivity was observed at the
field w`hl_c'l was only can.tily lighted.
2. Three fuel containers, each with a ho"d'ng caprc=:ty of about 16,000 liters
were stored in the sheds about 400 meters east of the hangar. The sheds 1,,--ere
surrounded by a barbed wire fence and guarded by a sentry.
3. No construction work we s observed at the field. Large excavation s _tes *,,Tere
seen southwest of the entrance to the field, and nearby there were several
pilos of bricks. No shipments were observed at the railroad station and the
loading ramp was empty.
