From 20 December to 3 Januarys the Schuetzon Kaserne was occupied by
an estimated 3b000 soldiers wearing red-bordered. black epwalets with
artillery and motor transport insignia and other soldiers who wore
black-bordered black epaulets with signal insignia. At 10 a.m0 on
23 December,, about 100 soldiers were seen drilling while about 40
soldiers strung telephone lines and constructed a telephone exchange
