1, Between 50 and 60 of the foreign technicians employed by the tin mines in
the Oruro-Catavi area have left Bolivia mince the nationalization of the mines
,an 31 October 1952. It is believed that this figure represents a large per-
centage of the foreign technicians employed by the Patino and Eoohmohild
interests,
2, The-tin mines JA the C) uro-Catavi area normally produce about half of the
total tin production of Bolivia. It is the general belief in the Oruro-Oatavi
area that there has been a considerable decrease in tin production mince
nationalization,
25X1A
F--] c)Q , It has been reported that the production of tin and all other
minerals has diminished by 30% since nationalization, because of the lack of
organization in the mining centers, but it has not been possible to verify
this figure. There have also been rumors of a letter regarding this decrease
it mineral production written by Manuel BARRLU, president of the Bolivian
Mining Corporation, to President PAZ E.stensporo.
