The establishment of these check points involves the construction
of trackage, fences and permanent facilities for control purposes.
Since 6 January 1953, the Directorate General, Railroads,, Berlin,
has been preparing measures to guarantee control of electric
interurban trains from East Germany and East Berlin to West Berlin.
Tracks and platforms are to be reconstructed in such way as to
make possible shuttle traffic between West Berlin and East Berlin
terminals. The system will involve a change of platforms by
passengers. Construction work connected with the establishment
of such check points has been initiated at Nahlow, Hennigsdorf,
Hohenneuendorf and Griebnitzsee0 Similar check points are scheduled
to be established at the Schoenhauser Allee and Friedrichstrasse
ra~ad stations in Berlin.
-
120mat The newly planned check points as concordantly re
por a by three different sources will supplement the control mea-
sures designed to seal off West Berlin. Their establishment has been
necessitated by nnw railroad construction projects.
