RD ' - 25X1 REFERENCES THE SOURCE EVALUATIONS IN THIS REPORT ARE DEFINITIVE. THE APPRAISAL OF CONTENT IS TENTATIVE. (FOR KEY SEE REVERSE) 1. The Roman Sugar Factory is in operation from 15 September to 1 January each year, with 4,000 employees who work in three shifts of eight hours. Output consists of 400 tons of double refined sugar each 24 hours and the entire amount. is loaded for export daily. Civilian Soviet experts living at Focsani come to the Roman railroad station daily to supervise the loading. Sugar for local consumption comes from the Sascut and Giurgiu factories and is less highly refined. 2. A cattle fattening farm, with a capacity of 4,000 head, is attached to the factory.
