RD REFERENCES THE SOURCE EVALUATIONS IN THIS REPORT ARE DEFINITIVE. THE APPRAISAL OF CONTENT IS TENTATIVE. (FOR KEY SEE REVERSE) There is an acute shortage of copper in Rumania. Large numbers of small motors, produced in accordance with the plan, cannot be used, because the shortage of copper has made impossible the manufacture of the necessary rheostats, switches, and switchboards. There is also a shortage of nickel- copper alloys for rheostat resistances. Some experiments are being made with iron as a substitute for copper and nickel-copper alloys for trans- formers and generators.
