Preliminary examinations in the undermentioned subjects a. will take place at the Parow School on 16-17 December 1952. On about 3 December, Hauptmann Rieck of the Training Section, H.V.S., and several specialist officers from that department, arrived'at Parow to discuss the nature of the examinations with the trai:ning~staff. As all cadets are now preparing themselves for the examinations, no sea-going training has taken place-,ir e that date. The examinations will be conducted in: a. Seamanship b. Technical, subjects c. Signals and navigation d. Political indoctrination e. Torpedo mechanics. Raeumpinassen (Patrol Boats) 2. Two of the hew Raeumpinassen are now stationed at the school for training purposes. Capacity of main engines: 300 HP 25X1 The Craft are fitted with gear suitable for carrying out 9A" -type and single cropesa-typesweeping, and to date have carried out trial.runs only in the waters around Stralsund. They will ',uged. exclusively for the training of mining and barrage personnel. MICR (sic) Boats the first MLR. boat is 'du:e to complete its 25X1 fitting-out at e eenew t Wolgast by 1 March 1953. By that date the Dieselmotorenwerk Rostbck is due to have delivered four :complete main engine to the yard. 8.8 cm and light AA, guns of German origin axe already available at Wo'lgast. The first supply of 8.8 cm ammunition has al.:o arrived at Wolgast and is of post=war DDS. manufacture. Enquiries have been made. amongst the Parow-based ,o'f'ficers in an attempt to locate suitable officers to. man these craft. In particular,, emphaisis is being laid upon the locat;rzg of personnel who have had previous experience with M-boats.of the old German navy. 5. The greatest difficulty to date has been t. o. find suitable gunnery officers., and executive --officers who could assume cowman ~R. boats. It is thought probable that the present' captain of R-boat will assume cgpmand of the first MLR boat when she is ready. 25X1 DORSCH ^. A 6. The trials of this vessel have now been-satipfactorily completed an4'she is temporarily attached to the R & KS Division for ''tactical and ad d? i*.trartive purposes. It has not yet been decided., however, whether the DORSC]i!' will remain attached to this division, or whether she will subsequently operate as a separate command directly responsible to the HfrS. No commanding c ficer25X1 has yet been-appointed for the DORSCH 'as no one has yet been found who, safely handle her. the appeaintm o go to Oberst. ieu ?, 1 e scn nu , w 110 is at present jat the H1S, and during the war commanded a light craft depot ship, similar in type to the DORSCH. 25X1 As -fax as is understood, the DORSCH will ultimately play the role of flaship to all the seag=going_units of the Seepolizei, During the trials, i-hich took-place without the gun mountings on board, the craft was commanded by Kapita;en Leutnant Werner Elmenhorst, and speeds of... 15.5.. knots were realized. The planned maximum speed of the craft should; howevrer, have reached 17 knots. Jasmun:der Bodden Project 9. The work on the Jasmunder Bcrdden project at Glove is proceeding under pressure and day and night shifts are being employed, Dredging operations are also continuing by day and night. Cessation-'of-Soviet Minesweeping. 10, Soviet miineeeping activities in the Tromper Wieck have now been suspended.
