RD REFERENCES THE SOURCE EVALUATIONS IN THIS REPORT ARE DEFINITIVE. THE APPRAISAL OF CONTENT IS TENTATIVE. (FOR KEY SEE REVERSE) 1. The CKD plant at Modrany (0 51/L 77) employs 1,500 workers. Its former manager~5X1 Vokalek (fnu), was dismissed in December 1951 and the name of the present manager Is not known. 2. This plant manufactures equipment for power stations, particularly water pipe, valves, and the like. It also manufactures oxygen containers and containers for dissous' gas (sic). The department which makes containers for dissous-gas is headed by Vaclav Subrt and employs about 15 workmen. 3. There is a bottleneck at the plant in the production of small pipe for power stations. The chairman of the local national committee at Modrany is Karel Sarka, a brick- i layer by profession In previous years Modrany had only25X1 one SNB station, but In this number was increased to four or five. 5. In May 1952, anti-aircraft guns and other defenses were installed near Modrany, and tents and huts for~the gunners were set up.
