I. All posts close to Minister President Otto Grotewohl are occupied by SSD
(State Security Service) personnel.
2., One S,SD functionary, a major, who is rarely exchanged, and four SSD men in
uniform, who escort the automobile of the Minister President and are
rotated, function as escort personnel.

When Grotewohl is in his office, the anteroom is occupied by the SSD major,
who checks each visitor and frequently receives SSD couriers. Poth he and
the courier speak in low voices, creating the irpression to all present,
including possible visitors, that they are the subject of conversation.,
this atmosphere prevails in all offices of the Presidium
of the NNinister6 Council and has,in zany instances, caused nervous break-
downs.
