Prior to 16 February 1953, the Wustrow AAA firing range was occupied by
only a guard detail.., which was under the command of Lieutenant Colonel
Zapozhnikov (fnu)? At about 5 a.rn. on 17 February, vehicles were ob-
served passing through Rerik, proceeding to the AAA firing range. The
bakery received a considerable amount of briquettes. The bread itiich,
prior to 16 February had been picked up b horse-drawn vehicles, was

by soldiers wearing black-bordered crimson epaulets, were seen en route
to the firing range. Source heard reports of guns, probably heavy AA
guns, between 11:30 a,m and 2 p.m. on 17 February. He did not observe
towed sleeve targets. Between 10 a.m, and 11:45 a.m. on 18 February,
source heard similar firing. A number of craftsmen received orders for
major work at the firing range, An electric firm had a contract worth
30,000 eastmarks.
