on 23 February 1953, 46 T-43 tanks, several trucks and jeeps, about
20 sidecar motorcycles and 2 field kitchens, F -I 25X1
were seen in the woods southeast of Frankendorf. On,25 February, 8
trucks, each towing a 76.2-m field gun and each uccuj:ied by 20 soldiers
carrying bull field pack, were seen on Altruppiner Strasse, leaving Neu-
ruppin toward Buergerheide. On 1 March, the Panzer Kaserne in Neuruppin
was only lightly occupied. About 30 percent of the windows of the barracks
buildings were lighted after nightfall. The Friedrich Franz Ka.serne was
occupied to capacity. From 23 to 28 February, eight soldiers daily prac- 25X1
ticed with three 152-m howitzers. The See Kaserne was also occupied to
capacity. 'bout 95 percent of the windows of the barracks buildings were
lighted at dusk. From 26 to 28 February, three tanks
daily left toward Kraenzlin. The supply traffic at the post was nor-
mal. Source did not observe any loadings between 17 February and 2 March.
Gqmnent. Tank units of the 1w,th Gds Tank Div stationed in the
Fridericus Kaserne, also referred to as Panzer Kaserne, probably held
exercises in late February and early March, probably in the same area, in
which the exercises of the 9th Ode Tank Div took place in mid-February.
On I March, the military installations of the post, except for the Fride-
ricus Kaserne, appeared to be occupied as indicated in a report of mid-
February.
