Schoenefel.d railroad station? near Berlin;, received rorders to make
thorough searcher, including body searches', of all persons crossing
the border from 12 to 14 February 1953 to determine whether they
planned to flea to the Westo although on the first
day the order was effected a =umber of farmers were apprehended and
were either arrested or sent back after the money they had on them
had been impounded the action had apparently become known on the se-
cond day,, and therefore, had to be discontinued since almost no one
could be apprehended. all other border stations were
crowded with refugees at that time the police
force employed on the Berlin Ring was not strong enough to make
thorough checks on all railroad stations a3mliltaneau, y?
