The military camp and exercise area of Roznava is. located 60 km-southwest of Kosice, 5 km. northwest of Roznava,.(A D'741),V)nnar:.t D bsinaz (Ri49/D66)-Roznava road. 2. There are two wooden buildings, occupied by the staffs of the units. The troops are partly quartered in barracks, part $r intents and in the houses of the neighboring villages. The total capacity of the camp is over 4,000. 3. During the late winter of 1952-1953 there were several;fnits at the camp, detailed below. The camp command detail consisted of 300 men, with their own supply and communications unit, two radio autos and 10 trucks. 4. There was x training unit of abut 500 lien, equipped with old Russian rifles. The men were of the older classes, 1920 to 1925, who were without experience in the old Czech Army. The commander was Captain Prihal; the political officer, Lt. Dricek; the training officers were Lt. Lekeer and Lt. Malan. The unit was organized into three infantry companies and a heavy weapons company. The heavy weapons commany had a mortar platoon, an antitank platoon with 37 mm. guns, an antitank platoon with 70.2 mm. guns and an antiaircraft platoon with 12.7 mm. heavy machine guns. Each company was equipped with 25 machine pistols, Russian type, five light machine guns, two Russian Maxim machine guns, and one 82 mm. mortar. 5. During the first six weeks there was only basic infantry training, the men learh;ipg the use of infantry weapons for six hours a day and taking political training for two hours. ,During the next four weeks there were battle exercises and some study of other weapons. In the four weeks following this, there were field exerelmos, using live ammunition, with accompaniment of tams and often of artillery.. Political instruction was less during these last eight weeks, being limited to sessions twice a week. The camp also held an artillery unit of 600 merry, consisting of three batteries, having a total of 16 guns, 105 mm., old Czech Skoda type, 7'. There was an armored company of 150 men, equipped with nine T 34/85 tanks. It was directly under the camp command. 8. There was an armored reconnaissance company of 150 men, kept close to the infantry training unit. It was equipped with 14 Skoda armored cars, each with three machine guns. There was a motorized Infantry battalion of 300 men, equipped with five cross- country cars, two radio'cars, 10 tank and shop ears and 100 trucks. 10. There was an infantry regiment, whose regular station is Olomouc, filled up with reservists to a strength of 2,000.. The T/0 of the regiment was: Command and staff A heavy machine gun company, equipped with eight Mdxim.heavy machine guns A light machine gun company A light mortar company, equipped with eight 50 mm. mortars A medium mortar company, equipped with eight 37 mm. guns A light AT company,, equipped with eight 37 mm.. guns A heavy AT company, equipped with four 76.2 mm.. guns .An accompanying battery, equipped with fur 76:.2 mm. guns A heavy AA.machine gun company, equipped with eight.heavy AA machine guns A communications company An engineer company All these are full motorized. Three infantry battalions, each consisting of three infantry companies and a heavy mac&thf gun company. 11. In addition there was an infantry battalion in the town of Roznava, not attached to any of the above commands, and quartered in barracks.
