by J.A. Bata as. part of the Bata Concern in 1936. LF'or the exact location of
these factories, see.Annex A.,. At that time'Bata purchases a tannery at Trebic-
Borovina owned by the Budisehovsky Firm, which, was being liquidated. Bata
erected a new power plant, boiler house, and two five-.story production buildings,
20 x 80 m. i,n size. Equipment for the production of standard. type stockings
and leather footwear was transferred into the new buildings from the Bata Works
s at Otrokovice L79121N-1732E7and Zlin, now Gottwaldov. Both factories were originally
called Bata, but the stocking'factory was renamed Kotva just prior to the out-
break of World War II; the shoe factory continued to be called Bata. In 1948
both .factories bore the name Svit National Enterprise, Gottwaldov, T 27514 31514.
As a result of the reorganization of the, former Bata Concern in 1951 and 1952,.
the stocking factory was incorporated into the textile industry and the shoe

2. In the summer of 1952,abou,t goo two-cylinder and about 200 one-cylinder hosiery
knitting machines were in operation at the stocking factory LSee Annex Ja About
50 of the two-cylinder knitting machines. produced winter socks. of the Wellington
type. These socks were carded on a special machine invented by the Bata Works
as early as 1935, which did carding on steel frames. The other equipment of the
factory was of the ordinary type.
