On 21 February 1953, the Stralsund-Parow Sea Police School had a strength
of about 700, large sea police
units wee expected to arrive in Parow in the next few days and
preparations had been made for quartering 1,000 to 1,300 men. The training
3shedule included only indoctrination and athletics in February.1
At about 4:30 P.M. on 14 February 1953, a group of 100 sea po_icemen, who
carried no baggage or arms, were seen marcht.ng under the command: of three
i..eu tenants from the railroad station to the Schwedenschanze Yaoerne. 25X1
they were picked men about 20 years old. They wore short blue

one petty officer and seventy sea police ratings carrying canvas ki its 'r ere

in February, the Fortschritt I K.ac!,rne was entirely vacated from civilians
and the Fortschritt II Kaserne was partially vacated. Other families were
evacuated from barracks buildings III and IV. Only bachelors were, left
in barracks installations I and 11.2 vn.y unmarried. 25X1
people who could be evacuated at short notice if necessa,y, would be 1-!ft
in Daenholm island and that the Fortschritt I and II Kasernen would be used
as quarters for apprentice's of the Volkswerft Stralsund.
