i.1" The South China Air Force Headquarters has recently completed construction
of Kueit rou (2710/ 7333 )' airfield. near Fengiranshan, north"' of Ch "uchiang
(N 24-50, E 113-33). No aircraft operations have occurred on this
facility. The airfield is ur}der the direction of HSU Chih-ang 4711776/1807/091)
and has the following installations and equipment:
3 hangars
2 gasoline reservoirs
1 supply (materials) depot
1 control tower
8-personnel barracks
4 anti-aircraft guns
2 anti-aircfaft automatic rifles
2 spotlights, 16 cm diameter
2 Construction work on Fort Bayard (Char}chiang) Airfield has been completed.
100 troops with anti-aircraft guns were recently sent to the field,
presumably for defense of the area. At the present time 14 Soviet advisers
are stationed at the airfield. No aircraft are based on the facility but
piston-engine aircraft periodically arrive and depart.
3. The Folo Airfield (N 18-37, E 108-45) is abandoned and unserviceable.

4. On 13 January, FAN,Pao-ch'i (54oo/1405/2461),.chief, Tactical Service of
the Central and South Air Force Headquarters, arrived in Nanning from Hankow
accompanied by six Chinese Communist officers. They wire received at the Air
Force reception quarters. FAN is on an inspection tour of airfield installations.
5. In early January there were 22 MIG-15's1 based on White Cloud Airfield. Six other
aircraft of the same type arrived on 9 January and two jet planes on 12 January,
making a total of 30 jets based here.
