1. Self-propelled missiles of the wartime V-2 type are being manufactured at
Stalin (Brasov). They are made in a special section of the Steagul Rosu
factory (formerly Astra Vagoane factory). The main product of this factory
is still railroad cars which are sent to the USSR.
2, Radio-sending devices are being made at the Electromagnetica factory
(formerly the Standard Factory) at Fiore near Bucharest. Autoindepend-
enta (formerly the Ford factory) is produ~cinrig machine parts. Both are work-
ing entirely for the army. Both have been reorganized and reequipped.
3. The Dudesti-Cioplea factory, near Bucharest, has hitherto been making
medicines. It is now being turned over to the manufacture of gunpowder.
4. The'Rumanian Communist authorities have just concluded an agreement with the
Pieck-Grotewohl Goverment for completing construction of an industrial
complex at Ucea de Sus, in the Fagaras district irk Transylvania. This is to
consist of a central electric plant and three factories, one for nitro-celluu
lose, one for artillery explosives, and a third for nitric acid. The USSR
authorities think this plan sufficiently important to justify them in sending
down important German technicians to assist in this project,.
