China, broken down by plants, and probably aims at propagandizing the develop-
ment of Chinese industry under the Communists. Products may be produced
under license or are reproductions of British or American models as is apparent
from the English inscriptions of many electrical installations. Description
of the installations of the newly established chemical industry is noteworthy.
The diagram on page 286 showing the production of sulphuric acid and giving
descriptions of other chemical processes supply no information beyond generally
known facts.

3. The description of an electrolysis factory on page 277 indicates the propagan-
distic tendency of the catalogue. It is stated there that the factory is
now producing ammunition-for the "battle of resistance" and will not resume
its previous production until "the victorious end of the war".
4.' The catalogue contains data on dimensions, types, composition, etc., of many
products. In this connection a survey of the products of the I Min Industrial
Company on page 310 is a list principally of food products; such as, powdered
eggs in cans, powdered milk, ice cream powder, aerated water, dry bread for
military use, smoked meat,, etc., with notes concerning the water, fat, acid content
etc.
