l~ Captains of Baltic vessels have reported that the Russians have
started a regular & servation of navigation at the Gjedser Straite4
They have stationed nnp lugger of the. "Karl '.liebknecht" type near the
wreck' of the GNEISENAUl east of the light ship and one to the west
of it. At night these vossels remain there without lights.
2. The `-oviat ship L STA as in distress in the East Baltic during a
storm period in late Feb waxy or early P:iarch. It was able to reach
Niga only with great difficulty.
3, The anmmnition and weapon transports to Fled China are carried out by
Russian, 11o1ish, Creek, .and Panamanian ships. The transports generally
go via Gdynia, Return .height is mostly manganese ore and oil cakes.
4. Recently, on several occasions, luggers with s alvage tugs being tovncd by
large supply ships have been observed leaving the Iael Canal for the
Black Sea. Such a corrroy- passed Cuxhaven on 7 Lhrch. The final
destination of most Russian tuggers fleets passing Cuxhaven is given
25X1 A 1. Comment: The GN.IiCSENAU once blocked the harbor entrance at
25X1 A Gdynia . It was raised in the latter part of 1951.
