office of the VEB Schwermaschinenbau "Heinrich Rau" VVB Gus, Wildau,
Since the spring of 1952, the undercarriages have been assembled by Lowa
Lokomotivbau Karl ,Marx Babelsberg VEB. At this plant the parts are welded and
are painted with an anticorrosive paint. There are three welding groups on
each shift; 15 to 18 v'blet assemblies are put together by each group on each
shift. Work is occasionally delayed by shortages of materials. There are two
types of aseckblies. The assemblies-ma eked with the Russian B - 77,,12 are
5.8 m. long,, with a loading space of 5.2 m. The ones designated-1ith the
Russian B - 71,,12 are 4438 m. long. Both types have double bottoms to accommodate
the alteration in the gauge; The final assembly takes place at Goerlitz-Niesky;l
Up to,-100-of these undercarriages are produced monthly. Completed cars go to
Wildpark-West near 'East Berlin,, exchange depot for the Russian Army.
