1. In early February 1953 the Chinese Communist Revolutionary Military Coluncil
(RMC) authorized a three-year program for the construction and repair of
permanent barracks in order to meet the expanded requirements of the
national. defense army. During 1953 the RMC planned to construct and
repair a total of 120 perina.nent barracks,l including barracks whose
construction began in 1952. The 1953 program was expected to cost JMP
150 billion in providing housing for 500,000 field army troops.

Comments
1. Probably barracks areas, posts, or stations, are meant, rather than
buildings, in view of the large number of troops to be housed and
the magnitude of the expected cost. The unknown locations in
Northeast China added to the 84 locations mentioned in paragraph
2 could possibly approximate 120.
2. Possibly Wapgch?uchen.(N 34-ci , E 108-56).
Probably Wuchin (N 31-46, E 119-58) and Lungchi (N 24-43, E 117-44)
are intended.
