1. The target date for the completion of the S. S. 1. ~igZ~I3~f, which h~
first been set for 3fl November 1952, wa.s officially postpcmea to 31 1'iax~Ya.
3953, and was finally deferred to 30 1lpril 1953, bemuse the ship ha:~l nod.
yet received turbines. The electrical equipment of the ship was tested ;r
February 3953. Twenty-eight of the 70 ventilator motors were tested earl
13 allegedly eat out because of shorted coils (short circuit) and seised
bearings. The Schiffselektrik VEtf (marine electric corporation, nati.anali.se:~
pl.snt~, Baustelle Wismar (Wismar construction secttion} maintained that these
failm-es ware due to low-grade ma#srial used in the motors which had been
suppli~l by the E2ektro-t~torenwe,.?k in Gera. 111 so testsu mere four ~,ain
generators in which the ventilator wires used for coGling the ge~serator
had parted and had to be replaced by stronger ones, allegedly because o_~'
low gre.de material of the motors which had bean supg5-ied by the Elektro-
Motoreswerk in Dessau.
2. The target date for the completion of the merchant ship SFSTRORE`TSR which
had been set for 3l August 1953, was postponed to an unknown data in 1954.
The t~et dates for the Al and A2-typ$ Soviet river passez~er aiaips, of
which the A3-type vessel had to be completed by 31 I~ay 1953- and the A2-tyl~
vessels by 30 June '1953, ware also postponed. The new target dates were
10 Ueesmber 1953 for the 11.1-type ships and 20 January 1954 for the A2--t~,~!
ships. These delays wars unavoidable as the shortage of material mace axe
