In.Septemb4'r.1952 representatives of the Chinese Communist Army railway engi-
neering units in Korea, including. Meritorious Representative P'AN Tewch'uan
(3382/1795/035.6), returned to China to participate in the 1 October National
Anniversary. At a rece'p'tion held. at the Ministry of Railways, these represen-
tativS reported the following information concerning the work of engineering
units. in Korea,:
a. Because of the shortage of ?fa lway" mechanics in Korea, the Chinese railway
staff and workers were dear ting`..90 percent of their labor to repairing
bridges and raiJ?oads dal aed. by' ; it raids.
There .was a, shortage of materials needed for repait% work.
