In February 1953 during the Chinese New Year's celebration in Burma, Chinese Nationalists and Chinese Communists clashed openly. One communist died in the hospital as a result of injuries. 2. The Government of Burma was not pleased with the affair, but there have been no official repercussions. The Chinese Communist Embassy threatened to allocate funds to the Chinese Communist organizations for "'self-defense" if the GOB is unable to protect "peacefful" commu- nists in Burma.
