These fish had been Introduced into the Rion River area in the Poti region to feed upon the mosquito larvae there. I recall no other details; I assume that the anti-malaria station referred to was in Tbilisi. 2. Askan.i Nova, , was the site of a famous animal reservation in the prewar years. This preserve was the Only One o tskind. in the Soviet Union in 1952. The reservation had a scientific research institute engaged in cattle-breeding experimentation.
