1. The Javal Officers' Training School (Sskola O[iccersioa Gila Ya rki
Rojennej) was located in Oksywie .33J_183 . Practical in-
struction was given the cadets aboard the Pol sh destroyed BLYSWICA.
which was normally anchored off-shore; occasionally, -sadets received
-training aboard the BLYSE-NICA on cruises in the Baltic Sea. Theoretical
instruction was given the cadets in the Aoadegy's school buildings on
shore.
2. Young men between the ages of 18 and 21 were qualified to enter the
1aval .Academy, provided they received their gymnasium certificate (Yale
aatura - equivalent to 11 years of school), and were considered politically
reliable. Persons already in the Polish Navy as enlisted men could enter
this Acadetay prmided they had their gymnasium certificate and had served
at least two gears in the Polish Navy. Registration frith the Acadesy was
performed once a year, either in January or February. Applicants were
required to take a very thorough physical examination. About 500 to ?00
cadets attended the Acadegy in 1947.
5. On entering the Acadmw, the applica*t was required to enlist in the Polish
Navy for 10 years. The ppplioant attended school for five yews, at the
end of which time be received a grads of warrant officer or ensign, depending
on the grades he received while in school. He also received a matriculation
certificate (Duza Yatura) Lich may be. similar to a Dior college diplomas.

Besides.naval courses azd military drill, cadets had such
:courses as Russian, French, English, Polish, mathematics,
'political orientation, geography, and world history. They were
taught. by both civilian and naval instructors. The radar.instructor
was Lt. Cmdr. Wieslaw KQ who came from England in 1946.

Polish naval officer, ,ex.cept for the visor of the cap, which was
plain (without the naval,,. 9fficer'' s star) and the cuffs, which had
a narrow..gold stripe for each year served as a cadet.. On each
lapel of the blouse the letters OS (Oficerska Szkola) appeared,
