On 25 April 1.993, there was little activity at Schoenwalde Fliegerhorrst. The
installation was still guarded by sentries with red bordered black epaulets
Five trucks, which came from the direction of Foersterel Ziegenkrug, were
peen moving along Alte Hamburger Post Strasse, which branches off from the
11oetzo1 Wansdorf road toward a northwesterly direction. The trucks proceeded
toward. Boetzow. The Alte Hamburger Post Strasse showed numerous fresh iJnprints
of motor vehicle tracks which made a turn toi,,ard iarwitz about 200 meters
southeast of Foersterei Ziegenkrug. A sentry wearing red-bordered black epau-
lets and carrying a submachine gun stood at the road fork, north of which the
noise of motors and voices was heard. At night, only a few windows of buildings
Has 1, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 ,of the Fliegerborst were lighted, while all windows
of the houses formerly used as quarters for officer dependents were lighted.
Source expressed the belief that the unit engaged in a field exercise in the
area of Foersterei. Ziegenkrug.
On. 25 April, source learned at the construction headquarters of the special
construction bureau Oranienburg, that construction work for the Soviet-occupied
section of the Sachsenh u,'en concentration camp was no longer handled by the
special construction bureau but by the construction headquarters of the Voiks-
polizei. 2
