C}P U Chi-wen (0575/3444/2429): commander of the P'inghsiang (N 22-06, E 106-44) Sub-Region. 2. The principal tasks of the Western Kwangsi Special Region Garrison Command were as follows: a. To replace the Kwangsi Military District troop units on the Kwangsi.-Indochina border. b. To asslm.t the Western Kwangsi Tung Nationality Autonomous Region expand its local forces. 25X1 25X1 c. To subdue the anti-Communist armed forces in the Shihwantashan (N 22- , E 108- ) area and in the Kwangsi-Kweichou-Yunnan border area. 3. the Kwangsi Military District formed the 1 and 2 Forestry Engineers ivisions3 of the Central and South China Military Area with 15,000 men transferred from Kwangsi Military District troop units, the 45 A ,,4 and the 53 Army. The organization of each of the forestry engineers divisions was similar to that of a regular infantry division. 4. In mid-March the two forestry engineers divisions were prepared to move to the Leichou (N 20- , E 1100 ) Penninsula for productive work assigned by the Central and South China Military Area. 25X1 5. the Kwangsi Military District had organized ten regiments, noun as the Provisionally Grouped Regiments of the Kwangsi Military District, in response to a program authorized by the Central and South China Military Area Command to transfer organized militia of the military sub-districts into field army reserve units.5 These ten regiments, which were based at Nanning (N 2248, E 108-18) and Liuchou, were being trained for three months by the Grouping and Training Command (sic) of the Kwangsi Military District. On completion of the training, the regiments were to be organized into reserve divisions of the Central and South China Military Area, 25X1 6.1 the Kwangsi Military District organized rive vir ons of field army reserve units.
