1. The Tbilisi Scientific Research Institute for Hydroelectric Power and
Irrigation-Installations (Thiliskiy Nauchno-Issledovatelskiy Institut
Gidro-Ehergeticheskikh i Irrigatsionnykh Sooruzheniy - TNIIGEIS) was
located at UniVersitetskaya'ulitsa 60 in'Thilisie This institute did
research bn geographic and hydragrpphic conditions. Its task was to
find favorable locations'for the construction of hydroelectric power
plants and irrigation installations-. Projects conceived by this insti-
tute were'sent to either-the Ministry of Electric Power Stations or the
Ministry of Agriculture in Moscow, whichever was primarily concerned.
2. When a project was approved by one'of these ministries, it was sent to
the Hydroelectric Power and Irrigation Projec s office Gidro-Irri ats-
ionn _ D.. Erlergeticheskiy Proyekt - GIDEP) o
This office also was at Universitetskaya ulitsa 60.
Detailed technical plans, designs,-and blueprints for every construction
project were prepared by this office. Approved plans were sent'to the
Gruzgidrostroy and Gruzgidromontazh for action.
