On 23 April, the occupation strength of the Schweinrich troop training grounds
e about 6,000 troops
Qu 27 April, a division from Ludwigslust, r'arahir and rerleberg was quarter-
at Camp Schweinrich. On 27 April, only a guard detail of about 130 sol-
diers with red-bordered black epaulets was stationed in Ferleberg. 2
Prior to 18 April 1953, the arrival of components of the 18th
` )iv at the Wittstock troop trainlug grounds. was previously observed..
The present report indicates that the movement continued up to 23 April 1953.
';bus, the number of troop trains observed between 12 and 23 April 1953
totals at least 26 trains while about 202 tanks and $?' guns of all kinds
were unloaded. The number of 122 mm field howitzers
probably was m s en as, as ear y as on 14 and 15 Apr .l 1953, elements
of the '1054th How Arty Regt of the 18th Meoz Div were unloaded at Wittstock;
and, allegedly on 17 April 1953, another .1 howitzers belonging to this
regiment were entrained at Ludwi slust. . The un-
