further outbreaks and demonstrations against the goverment of the DDR*
About 25 June Soviet tanks, guns, and personnel carriers were seen concentrated
in groups, not dispersed as formerly. This was considered to be an indication
that they would soon depart from Berlin,
Up to 28 June there had been no essential change in the border controls. The
sector boundaries in Berlin were, open only to qualified workers. Between West
Berlin and the Russian zones crossing points were open at the Glienioke Bridge
and on Heerstrasse; in both cases movement was subject-to a check of identification
papers, although this check was only. r pwrfunotory ';'nt b Glienioke Bridge. Private
citizens.and members of the eastern police believed that all extraordinary
border controls would be lifted on 29 . June,
The KVP was no longer in evidence on the sector boundaries by 28 June.
Martial law was abolished in Kreis Bernau on 26 June.
Arrests continue in East Berlin. At one VEB factory in East Berlin 32 persons
were arrested, but the public announcement gave the number as 15.
