1.. In early 1953 a number of Soviet officers belonging to garrisons in Bucharest,
Iasi, Galati, Sibiu, Tiniisoara and Craiova were arrested. One of the reasons
given for the arrests was the spreading of anti-Soviet literature.

2. A detention camp is located at Podul Iloaei, near Iasi. Deserters from the Soviet
Army are held here while waiting to be sent to the Soviet Union. Soviet officers
ne ,t held in the camp are: Lt. General Dmitri Fedoro v i ch Moroschnikov of the
Armored Division in Lugoj, and Captains Yavdoshenko, Ryabov and Popov.
