(FOR KEY SEE REVERSE) Chirpan (N 42-12, E 25-19) is a city of approximately 14.000 inhabitants. The Machine Tractor Station (MTS, Mashino Traktorno Stante3ya), one of the lar est in Bulgaria, was established at Chirpan in 1949. It now serves approximately 10 ovllective farms -in the 52 villages of the district. The station has five combines arid' a'o6nsiderable number of tractors, and it receives additional machinery yearly from the USSR. The station's other agricultural machinery is old. The station is slab equipped to make yearly overhauls of machinery and employs approximately 100 mechanics. 3. Student 'tractor-drivers who come from the neighboring villages for instruction at the Ch.rpan,MTS live in the Synagogue in the Turkish quarter of the town, 4s A second MTS is located at Meriohleri (N 42-08, E 25-30), in the Chirpan 0koliyai 5? The collective farm, which was established early in 1951, now includes approximately 100 families, The`Rudishnoet agricultural machinery factory is located near the railroad from Chirpan to Plovdiv, 100 to 150 meters from the Chirpan station. 7. The 1 May flour mill, the largest of three at Chirpan, is located in a 3-story building near the Sudiehnost factory. It gets current from the Maritsa Mine Power station. 8. A 'cotton depot is located in a 2-story building on the highway from Plovdiv to Stara Zagora, approximately 300 meters from the police atatj,on. It has sufficient space to store all cotton produced in the area. 9. The hospital,, .gift of the Polish government after the 1928 earthquake, is located near the railroad station and the Machine Tractor Station. Twenty doctors are on its staff. Secondary schools with four years of elementary and six years of secondary instruction, in accordance with the Soviet pattern, are to be established for use beginning with the 1952-1953 school year. Oneof these schools will be located in the center of town, near the town garden,., and a second in the Levski quarter. 11. A trade school offering tailoring and carpentry instruction to 200 boys and girls in located in the yard of tre school near the town garden. 120 An infantry unit of 300 to 350 men has been quartered on the former playfield since 1950.. The unit?s headquarters is in the former orphanage. 13. The police station is located in the center of the town. The police force comprises approximately 100 men. ltj..
