f. In spite of difficulties, work on the Giurgiu Ruse Bridge is proceeding.
The central pillar which was washed away last fall has now been replaced;
but the bridgehead on the Ruse side has started sliding into the river due
to insufficient foundations. The transmitter cable across the river,
between the two bridgeheads, has been installed so that vessels passing
beneath are obliged to lower their masts.
