On 27 April 1953, the quarters of the AAA unit on Goethe Strzsse in Tanger-
mme2de housed only a guard detail, as the unit had left for the summer camp.
Major Kharchenko (fnu) was identified as supply officer of the unit. On 27
April, the engineer unit from the quarters on Stalingrad Strasse, Tangermuende,
also departed for the summer camp. The unit was equipped with three-sectional
medal pontoons and several trucks with hoisting gears. The unit was at Camp
Bittkau in the sumer of 1952. Major 2itnikov (fnu) was identified as supply
officer of the unit. 1
2. On 2 May, source determined that the engineer -unit with supply officer Krys
(fnu), which had formerly been stationed in the Remontesch Zle in Gardelegen,
was transferred to Stendal in April. Lieutenant Colonel Popkov (fnu), corrmsd-
ing officer of the battalion equipped with motorcycles and armored scout cars25X1 A
was succeeded by Lieutenant Colonel Bertovski (Znu). Major Stupnikov (fnu)
(fnu), the political officer of the komendatura at Gardelegen was transferr-

ed to Riga at the end of April. He was succeeded by Major Kochegarow. Lieute-
nant Colonel Kolesnikov (fnu), previously deputy commandant of Gardelegen,
was reassigned as commandant to Calbe on the Nude River. 2
3., Between 20 and 27 April, Waldlager Planken in Letsling Heath was occupied
by a tank unit from Rosslau. Colonel Boboshkin (fnu) was identified as
supply officer of the unit. Waldlager Born was occupied by a unit from the
Nargaretenhof Kaserne in Magdeburg during the last week of April. Lieutenant
Colonel Inaychev (fnu) was identified as supply officer of the unit. Bet-
ween 20 and. 27 April, Waldlaper Jaevenita was occupied by units from Sten aJ a

Comment. The troop quarters and locations in Tangermuende are not
sown are and cannot be checked, as no pertinent material is available.

So far, only a troop quarters northwest of the railroad station became
kno m; it was carried as quartering the 953d AAA Bn (US) of the 207th Nita
Rifle Div and housing engineer equipment of the 338th Engr Bn of the divi-
sion. The engineer battalion proper is carried in the Tauentzien Kaserne,
