The plant we constructed in 1934 and was known as the Siebel Plant, Plant No. 3. The maim Sabel Plant was located in Halle. At that time, Plant No. 3 carried out the final assembly and testing of aircraft (after 1938, the JU-88), of which 60- 80 were produced monthly. This production continued until the end of World War II. The plant sustained considerable World War- II damage, the only building re- maining intact being the present refrigerator and compressor assembly shop (5). Reconstruction began in 1948 and was completed in its present form by the first quarter of 1949. 2. The plant, which covers an area 350 x260 meters, is 200 miles north of the Halle- Leipzig railroad line. 3. 41 buildings are o gray plastered stone construction tunese otherwise specified. It is equipped with 20-25 German (Boeheringer, Niles, VDF) lathes of various sizes, largeetal-2 meters distance between centere, smallest,ll meters distance between centers; two new German (Reinicke) vertical milling"machines; one old German' rtioal milling machine; five prover model German (Reinioke) horizontal milling machines; one old German horizontal boring mill with 60 millimeters drilling capacity; one new German (Berliner Werkzeugmaeohinenfabrik), model 1950, radial drill press, 100 Approved For Release 2002/01/03 : CIA-RDP80-0081OA001800400007-1 millimeters drilling capacity; six small, old model, column drill presses, 28-30 millimeters drilling capacity; one pre- war German honing machine, capacity up to 50 millimeters diameter; three 32-ton eccentric presses and one 100-ton ?ooentric press, used for pressing out small parts for refrigerator construction; and two arc welding. units. It employs 40-45 workers on main shift, 20 workers on night shift I and manufactures machine compressor parts primarily. Carp nter shop, 50 x 30 x 10-12 meters. It has a sax tooth r:oo and skylights. It is equipped with two circular saws, one parallel saw (Beeaeumsaege); one straightening machine (Abrichtmaschine); one groove milling machine (Kettenfraes- ma'oohine); two band sawss one glue furnace; two drying ovens, capacity 10-12 cba of lumber; two table drill presses; end four assembly tables each 5 meters long. It produces wood parts for refrigerators and assembles wooden framework for refrigerators4and employs a total of 50-60 on both shifts. jp-G:Lnt 30 Storage shed, 20 x 8 x 3 meters, it. is of wood construction with tar paper saddle roof. It stores compressor parts. n?' _ .,Paint shop and former apprentice shop, 40 x 20 x 20 meters, it is two stories with a tar paper saddle roof. The paint shop on the first floor is equipped with one spray cabin Where small refrigerator parts are spray-painted and an open section where finished refrigerators are spray-painted. Xt,employs a total of 15 workers on two shifts. The second i oor, now empty, formerly contained an appren*tce shop. e machines were moved to the former Aurora Plana. The skylights have many panes of glass, missing, and have been covered with tar paper. This section assomblee refrigerators. The compressor assembly section contains four workbenches varying from 5-10 meters in lengths and two table drill presses. Two sections employ a total of 200-250 workers on one shift. On the long side of the shop are 'two galleries, one of which stores finished aseem-,, bly parts purchased from an outside source; the other finished assembly parts are manufactured by the plant proper. On the south side of the building, on the same level as the 44lleries, is a closed-in section containing administrative .;? offices, including tiohnioal, wage, planning, norm and direotor's offices. e tr heating plant, 25 x 15 maters, 10 meters above and $'hecenter. It is also used for plant meetings and parties. The kitchen .(b) is 25 x 10 x 5 meters. It also contains an office for ki'tohen .supervisory. personnel. The sales store (a) sells cigarettes, bakery goods., beer, and mis6ellaneous food items for plant per- so el. The dispensary (b), is staffed with one doctor, w4o is on duty in the forenoon, from nearby Bergmannswohl ` Municipal Hospital, also two medical assistants who alternate on the day and night shift. The supply of medicines and bandaging material is nom adequate. ant 0. Guardhouse and telethons switchboard, 5 x 5 x 3 meters, it is made of raw clinker-brick oonstruotion with a flat tar paper roof. It is. staffed with two gatekeepers who alternate on shifts,.one messenger boy to take visitors to the plant, and one female telephone operator who handles incoming-outgoing calls. -n, garsge and auto repair shop, it is 50.x 5 x 3'0 meters', with tar paper shed roof. It contains three passenger oars (two Idle;, one Opel) and'two t rucks (ono Opel-Blitz,: .and one small unidentified delivery truck). The passenger oars are used for administrative personnel, and trucks for :local deliveries. Outeido,of the garage are two old trucks, Ore 2j-ton, the second 3-ton, each with a flat trailer, and, ele prime mover, used for,transpor'tation of finished products.. The auto repair'shop has primitive equipment and can make only minor repairs.' The installation employs a total of 25 *orkers. At present,it stores five tons of sheet metal. An unknown amount of voltage Por is received via high tension lines from an unknown source ant; is . transformed , to 220 v and 380 'v AC at the plant transformer station. The latter building is-4 x 3 meters, 2 2.5 before underground, with the top ?, seeded ?with:grass and a ladder entrance. It is -equippecl with two transformers.. An underground cable leads from the transformer station. into the plant. I have no further det#4ls. 4. - The plant is bordered on the south side by'a three-meter high stonewall, .on the .west side by a mesh ,wire fence 2.5 .meters high, and on the 'east side by a'stone wall 2.5 meters high. The north area of the plant is open. The Id .formed plant police consist of five men and one Woman. The men arq armed pith pistols and patrol the, plant area alternating on three 8-hour shifts. The night patrols ?are accompanied by a German it i ors s shepherd dog. The female guard spot-chocks female employees. V andplant?,personnel are checked when entering and leaving plant by'a 'gatekeeper.., in the guardhouse., Each employee has a` plant identification card '. with' photograph which must be shown to guard. On back. of this card is rooia tar four sticks is which are issued quarterly*' Each employee must have the: proper Sticker for the respective. quarterly period. U*. fire department consists, of 20-2g volunteer firemen from the plant ,personnel. One small' pump unit is in the garage. Each building is equipped with-kiainas tire extinguishers and send buckets.
