The Chilean delegates to the Third World Youth Congress of the World Feder-
ation of Democratic Youth in Bucharest., Rumania, 25-30 July 1953, must pay
their own passage, which is estimated to be approximately 751,000 pesos for
each,but all other expenses connected with the trip and their stay in
Europe are being paid from Party funds.l Upon instructions from the Party
the Communist press devoted a great deal of space to stimulating interest
in the congress, and student, youth and sport groups sponsored all types
of fund-raising activities for the trip to Bucharest.
To raise funds for the delegates the Communists sponsored the showing of a
film on bacteriological warfare in Korea at the Students' Federation, on
Chile Merced 711 on 21 June. This film, which'is owned by the Institute
Chileao-Chino de Cultura. (ICCC), may have been brought to Chile from
Peiping by one of the se delegates to the recent Continental Cultural
Congress in Santiago02
