On 12 Mr.zy, about ?CO troops were seen in a simulated attack towarc Teufelskanzel, south c.)f the thstallation. A radio station was on the Teufelskenzel and tank dumnies were in either side. 3 3. Ces 16 May, the Mehnert factory was. -occupied by about 950 troops wearing red- .-bordered black epaulets and inCluding about. 60 -officers with ranks up to, aid including, colonels; about 20 uniformed women; and about 10_ dogs. On 11 May, about 55 soldiers were firing with rifles at the firing range at the ciuusry; about 30 soldiers at combat practiee were seen in the trench area 25X1X. on Psehlberg; and several .groups of eoldiers practiced marching on Stalin 25X1C Platz .4 4. 5. On 2 May, seven AA guns, presumably 37-mm guns; were in the AAA..emplace- ment OR Dimitroff Stresses Johanngeorgenstadta On 26 April, about 35 sol- diere ennaged in service of the piece drill in the emplacement. ? 25X1A 7 On 2 May, the Neue Kaserle between Dimitroff Strasse and Eibenstockar Sttesse, Johanngeorgenstadt, was occupied by about 500 troops wearing red-bordered black epaulets with motor transport insignia. The troops stationed in this installation were employed as drivers in the shafts. Source learned that one Major Kirshov (fnu) was commanding officer. 8. On 2 ?lay, the barracks installation at Shaft No 60, Johanngeorgenstadt, was occupied by about 450 to 500 troops wearing black-bordered crimson epaule.s. The troops were employed in guard duty at the shafts. 1 L. On 2 May, the barracks iestallation west of the townhall, Johanngeorgen- saada, was occupied by about 500 troops wearing black-bordered camson epauLes. The troops were employed in guard duty at the shafts. '? 10. On 2 May, the Box furnitere factory. Johanngeorgenstadt, was occupied by about 500 troops wearing black-bordered crimson epaulets. Or 30 April and 2 May. about 20 soldiers wearing black-bordered crimson epaulets were seen drilling in the barracks area. The troops stationed in the installation were employed in guard duty at the shafts. 1111 25X1C On 2 May; the former Wandler factory was occupied by about 500 troops wearing red-bordered black epaulets. Between 24 April and 2 May, about 180 to,200-troope were seen drilling on several days. All soldiers, except for the =Os, had closely cropped hair. ' 12. On 10 Pay, the 350 troops wear engineer insign epaulets. This duty. barracks installation in Breitenbrunn was occupied by about ing black-bordered .black -epaulets, including some with :las and about 250 troops wearing black-bordered crimson -unit, as previously, engaged in work in the shafts and guard J3. On 20 Nay, the barracks installation in Beierfeld was occupied by about 450 to 500 troops wearing black-bordered black epaulets, including some with construction engineer insignia. 8 Between 24 April and 10 Nay, 100 troops-Yrom the installation were shipped to Frankfurt/Oder and 100 young replacements arrived. The troops were exclusively employed in the shafte. Colonel Mikhailoy (fru) stationed in this installation was re- peatedly eeen.in Breitenbrunn and the Kutscher factory with his sedan 14, On 20 May, the barracks Installation south of Raschau was occupied by about 150troops wearing black-bordered crimson epaulets and 20 troops wearing black-bordered black epaulets with engineer insignia. The troops, except for the engineers, were employed in guard duty at the shafts.. Trucks were seen en route from and to the installation. 15. On 10 May, five medium canvas-covered Ak guns were in the AAA emplacement on Lehnberg, eorthwest of Schwarzenberg. The emplacement was guarded by four soldiers eearing red-bordered black epaulets with artillery insignia. Vehicles were sheltered in a vehicle shed about 31 meters long, and the gun crew was quartered in two low wooden buildings, about 12 meters long. A radio station was in a wdbd patch, about 250 meters northwest of the emplacement. The radio station included 4 small one-story buildings, each about 5 meters long; an overhead antenna, about 60 meters long; 2 masts without entenna, each about 5 meters high; and 1 radio truck with a rod antenna and mourting a weir-basket shaped device, about 2.2 meters high. Source expressed the be- lief that the radio station was manned by about 20 soldiers wearing red-border- ed black epaulets. 8 17. The installation in Crandorf, south of Schwarzenberg; the installation in Antonshoehe; Shafts No 336 east of Hirschsprung; and No 126 at Hammerwald; and the installation 2 km northeast of Antonstal were occupied as previously by each about 150 troops wearing black-bordered crimson epaulets, the troops thus totaling about 750 men. Only the troops stationed in Crandorf and Antons- tel were employed in guabd duty. The troops stationed in the other installa- tions were, on 8 May, seen receiving training at the firing ranges and in the 25X1X training area in the immediate vicinity of the quarters. Training observed included the passing of an obstacle course and the throwing of hand grenades. 8 18. On 1 May, the AAA emplacement near Aue was occupied by about 45 troops wearing , red-bordered black epaulets with artillery insignia; and four 76.2-mm LA guns. 6 25X1A 19. about 45 soldiers were firing with rifles in the training area west of the Bernsbach-Aue road. 25X1C 20. On 12 May, the installation south of the main street in Oberschlema was occupied by about 200 troops wearing red-bordered black epaulets. The installation was fully lighted at dusk. Two watchtowers were manned by each one guard. 21. On 12 May, the installation in Wildbach was occupied by about 150 troops wearing black-bordered crimson epaulets. Source did not observe any'training activity or vehicular traffic. 3 22. On 12 May, the Kleine Kaserne in Aue was occupied by about 200 troops wearing black-bordered crimson epaulets, which were employed as previously in guard duty at the Wiamut Corporation. On 12 May, about 60 troops armed with sub- machine guns and rifles left the installation for drill and advanced combat practice in the vicinity of the installation. 7 23. On 12 May, the installation west of the Niederschlema-Aue railroad line was occupied by about 200 troops wearing red-bordered black epauletse On 20 April, about 140 troops left the installatio else. This is the first information on a personnel exchange in the uranium mining area. The information appears credible as 4ther reports also indicated that an exchange, presumably of specialists, started in 25X1A March 1953.
