1. During the latter part of May 1953, Dr. Branko Vrconl and Branko Alujevic2,
who were among the first opposition leaders to the Tito regime and were
condemned and imprisoned in 1946, were released from prison by the Yugq-
slav authorities.
2. Vrcon and Alu.evic were Slovene Liberals, who toward the and of World War II,
headed the Mlada .ugoslavije (Young Yugoslavia), a clandestine youth 'orgat
ization in Slovenia. Thi organization collaborated with Dr. Andre] Gosar
and Professor Jacob Sola, Christian Socialist leaders, in opposing the
Tito regime.5
