1, NII 49 is located in Leningrad, It is a part of the Soviet Ministry for
Shipbuilding Industry, The German specialists there were organized in a
loose group under Dr. Klaritskiy, a Soviet. and Dipl, Ing, Mummert9 a
German. The organization chart (see page 2) contains a diagram of the
organization of NII 49, Tnere may have been as many as 13
laboratories, since I heard the words aboratory 13" at one time during my
stay in the.Institute; however, laboratory numbers were changed frequently,
The Germans were well isolated from the activity of the estimated 3,000
