The day before Stalints death, an order came out in GOFG cancelling all leaves up to 1 April 1953 and recalling to their units all those away on duty. Those who had already left their units to go on leave to the USSR, however, were not returned to their unite by border check points. The order was rescinded on 15 March 1953. 2. Newspapers of purely internal Soviet Army circulation, e.g. Sovetskaya Armiya, have not lessened their anti-West propaganda since Malenkovte overtures to the Western democracies. 3. Malenkov's rather abrupt reversal of decisions taken at the 19th Party Congress had not been discussed in officer circles in GOFG because officers were afraid to discuss these changes among themselves.
