1,. On 26 February 1953 a World Peace Congress meeting was convened in Letpadan
(N 17-47, E 95-45)." The meeting was still in progress the next day. Its main
purpose appeared to be to urge the Government of Burma to drive all Chinese
Nationalist troops out of Burma.
2. Posters glorifying Red China and the Soviet Union were on display, but no
Burmese national flags were flown. Several light blue flage?with a picture
of pige9ns in the center were observed.

25X1A Burma Workers and Peasants Party (BWPP) and its front organization, the World
Peace Congress (Burma) during the period 1 October - 31 December 1952.
1. Iomment. Letpadan is an urban district, a majority of whose rep-
resentatives belong to the BWPP. It. is considered to be a Communist
stronghold.
