Bozhurishte airfield is a military field located approximately 100 meters west of the Bozhurishte (N 42-452 E 23-11) railway station, on the Sofia - Bankya (N 42-l2, E 23-08) railroad. The field has wire fences on the eastern side, across the eastern half of the north and south sides, and is open on the west. The field has one runway which runs east-west. Red lights placed at the sides of the field are used for night landings. 2. Bozhurishte airfield is used only for military airplanes; during 1951, fighters and twin-engine bombers, as well as approximately 20 Soviet-made jet planes parked near the edge of the field. The hangars tre located at the west of the field and three large, grey, 2- or 3-story barracks buildings used by an unidentified Air Force unit, are situated to the north.l A warehouse and an unknown number of antiaircraft guns and ammunition dumps are located approximately 300 meters north of the barracks buildings. Vrazhdebna Airfield 3? Vrazhdebna airfield is a civilian and military field located 100-500 meters east of the Levski quarter (the easternmost section of Sofia) arru approximate) si c kilometers from the center of Sofia, between the Sofia-Firdop highway and the Sofia-Plovdiv railroad, approximately 100 meters south of the highway and about 200 meters north of the railroad, just east of the I skur River. II.. The southern half of the field is used as a civilian field and the northern half as a military field. Marino Pole Airfield 5? Marino Pole airfield is located 6-7 kilometers southeast of Karlovo, approximately two kilometers south of the Karlovo Kalofer (N L.2-37, E 24-59) railroad line and a short distance east of the Karlovo - Plovdiv railroad line. An unidentified stream, general direction of flow south, forms the southern boundary of the field, which is 29000 meters in length. The airfield has a runway running east-west, five or six white 3-story barracks buildings on the north of the field Z hangars, and gasoline and ammunition depots on the east,, very close to the Iskur River. An Air Force unit is stationed at Marino Pole airfield.2 Miscellaneous Information 6. Plovdiv airfield is located approximately two kilometers southeast of Plovdiv. 7. In 1951 aid early 1952, saw large groups of twin-engine bombers flying over Plovdiv, usually in a "circular" formation.
