strength of about 60 to 7C' men at a tire rotated every four weeks.
Piles had been driven into the river bank for the bridge con tructi.on
about 50 meters west of the other stationary bridge building equi ncnt.
A floating pile driver which roasted on two pontoon sections was r:.r7ox ed
on the river bank.1
the area of the former German engineer park on the :gale River
near Wt issenfels was placed under KVP control when also the barracks
installation in Weissenfels was occupied by KVP. While the later installation
quartered about 1,000 engineers with black collar patches, the engineer
trainine site was occupied by an estimated. 70 to 80 men. A, large house tent
whicber had a capacity of pore than 100 soldiers, was in the
area which was surrounded by a wire fence. Engineer equipment seen in the
area included 12 to 15 pontoons, about 1.25x3 meters, about 3,CXC cubic
meters round timber and 4 crane trucks. In early June, about 75 sold.-1.ers
constructed a pontoon bridge up to the middle of the river which was
later reroved. 1
