Frunze Aircraft Engine Factor
1. The Frunze Aircraft Engine Factory (Aviatsionnyy Motorostroitelnyy Zavod Imeni
Frunze) is located about 12 kilometers NE of Kuybyshev, adjacent to the
Kuybyshev-Chernovka road, A spur from the KWbyshev-Sergiyevsk railroad line
enters the factory.2 The site of the factory, which is of posh construction,
is marked 'A" on Sketch 1, page 3.
2. The Frunze Aircraft Engine Factory made engines for IL-2 aircraft. Production
was alleged to be 40 engines per day, although on some days as many as eight
to ten engines might be rejected for defects. It was anticipated that the
factory would switch over to the. production of a new type of engine.
3. The labor force was made up of 1300 to 1400 workers, both civil:s
and German 5: employed in two shifts. The director was a civilian engineer
named Alilgolov fnu), and the deputy director was a Major Vozneskly(fnu).
4. There were both military and civilian guards. Passes were checked at the main
entrance by members of both guard forces. The side entrances to the factory
were opened only Ab en necessary,
5. Sketch 2 shows the layout of the factory. The key is:
a. Administrative building about 40 meters long.
b. Shed about 60 metei?s long and 20 to 25 meters wide. In this shed there is
a grinding machiLe used mainly in connection with engine cylinders.
c. Shed about 60 meters long and 20 to 25 meters wide.
d. Shed about 60 meters long and 20 to 25 meters wide.

6. Soviet prisoners from the settlement shown on Sketch 2 were employed in the
construction of a second track on the railway line betw en Kuybyshev and
Syzran. The work had not been completed by March 1951.

omment. The plant has previously been reported at Bezymyanka,
about 10 kilometers east of Kuybyshev.
Comment probably means the Kuybyshev Ufa line. There
is no direct li4e between Kuybyshev and Sergiyevsk.
Commen . (probably some workshops
which were buil in the post-war years. The main plant was in production
during the war.
Comment. The director of the plant from 1945 on has been
reported previously as Zhelov (fnu), a Major General of the Air Force.
This may be more recent information.
Comment. may be referring to repair work, as the line
between Kuybyshev is double-tracked,
