There are at present two trade routes in North Burma used for transportation of,
goods between Burma and China. The first route is from Lashid.,through.NUpang
and Kunlong (N 23-25, E 98-39) to Malipa (N J3-40, E-98-46). The second route
runs from Lashio to Muse, Pa-mo and Namhkam. At Namhkam the items to be traded
are transferred to Mengmao where bartering between the traders and the trading
companies ensues.
2. The Chinese Communists use Yunnan products such as vermicelli, hams, and
unbleached silk to barter with Baiye and Burmese traders for cotton, steel, iron,
gasoline, machine oil, and electrical appliance mgterials. The Chinese Communists
also use gold for bartering purposes..
3. On 10 May a class of 225 students was graduated from the Paoshan minority 'nation-
alities training course. This group's first assignment after returning home is
to make friends among the young people and to organize womenis associations,
youth associations, and self-preservation corps. The second-assignment is to
make a house-to-house census searching for weapons., The third assignment is. to
open night schools for women in order to teach them to read.
