The employment probably was a precautionary measure as no. riots were observed in the area of the 7th Gds Mess Div including Fr?.nkfurt/Oder._ There are no reports from Frankfurt/Oder that a large unit should have been stationed in Frankfurt Over, even temporarily. 2.1 Corzraent. e Infornation i no arrive rail does not rule out that wheeled elements of` the vision re urns to Neuruppin by road up to .'is date. Additional reports repeatedly stated that tanks and/or AAA units also were at Ruegen Island which have not yet been identified. Therefore, a transfer of Soviet units with tanks, SP guns and AAA guns from Ruegen, as reported in the present report, is given no credence. 25X1 It appears possible 25X1 the KVP division Prora which possibly were shipped away -. a 25X1 the division was to be transferred from uegen s an o the ] M ! except for an infantry regiment which was to remain on the island. This movement possibly started in early July 1953. Further information is re uired to determine whether the troop trains actually went to Frankfurt tOder. If the trains carried components of the K:VP division,, the nioverent would indicate that the division was transferred from thearea of Armeegruppe Nord. No such information, however,, is available at present. SECRET/ 25X1 25X1 25X1 25X1 Approved For Release 2005/06/30 : CIA-RDP80-0081OA002100570010-5
