1. Chronotechna in Jablonec nad Nisou produces alarm clocks, clocks of all
kinds and phonographs with clockwork movements. In November 1952, this
plant commenced production of time fuses for artillery ammunition and
aerial bombs.
2. In the month of November only a trial series of the latter items was
produced. In charge of this project were three engineers from Chronotechna
at SternberklV which plant also manufactures clocks and alarm clocks but
concentrates on clockwork mechanisms of all kinds for military purposes.
3. About a week after the test series was produced, the plant was visited by
three officers from the Ministry of National Defense,
Chronotechna9 Jablonec nad Niaou, also produces automatic machinery (sic).
The press room and the department of automatic machinery both work two shifts
per day; the assembly shop only works one shift.
Only 70% of the plan was fulfilled,2 although the plant had enough material
and good machinery to fulfill it by 100%, The reason for this underfulf iilment
was bad organization and lack of qualified foremen and personnel. In 1952,
the plant was twice inspected by an inspection commission from the Ministry
of General Engineeringg but no improvement was achieved. Chronotechna had
such an abundance of material. that neighboring plants often came to borrow.
Included among these were PALI Jablonec, which manufactures brakes for buses;
Plastimat, Jablonec9 wlhi ;h manufactures combs and fancy goods; and the
Gramophone Works of Jablonec, which manufactures electric phonographs.
6. The following are important persanr_el at the Chronotechna factory in Jablonec
nad Nisouo
