Previous to his inspection the vehicles were seen by other high-ranking Mussian officers, name unknown, but they included two generals, two colonels and two lieutenant colonels* 1 the vehicles were inspected in Lichtenberg bran artillery general and major General Hans Wulz. At this earlier inspeation? the vehicles'emunition carrying capacity was tested. Results of the inspection of the vehicles were as follOwS: b.* A cross-country "Kuehelsitz" (i.e#,light multiple purpose car) car-of 60 U.P. This vehicle has not been tested mechanically as yet, but the outward appearance was approved. Tests will be carried out in the near fixture, iW rbaPrIPment Granit Three models were exipited: (1) A short wheel-base vehicle intended primsrily for the towing of artillery, with seating capacity for 8 persons. (2) A, medium wheel-base, platform truck (Pritschenaufbau) (3) A long wheel-base vehitle for troop carrying. The vehitles were classed. AS "goad" at the inspection, and the air-cooled engine approved. (b) The medium wheel-base vehicle is to be produced for towing light artillery, but it is to be . 25 cms wider to carry more ammunition and to be fitted with the superstructure of the vele listed ahtive? to provide accommodation for at least 22 perants. ) The long wh41-base vehicle to be used purely as a versonnelt2carrier. Attplots will be made to fit the Tihaenomen with an air-cooled Diekel engine, 25X1A LW. q5; Several 05s7 each with a different body, were shown. Basically the LKW was Considered 'good, but for the 1954 series, efforts must be made to reduce its weight and to lower the bodywork by 100-120 mms. Attempts to install an air-cOoled engine will be made. In addition, attempts are to be mole itdrease the range to 800 km by the addition of extra fuel tanks. (1) The G will be used as a towing vehicle for medium artillery. A capstan wtich is not yet fitted will be ad.ded later. (2) The 05 withtltped-coachwbork'is conaidered verfsuitable'as-a . -r- - (3) The 05 with closed bodroorkis most suitable at a mobile workshop for vehicles and artillery repairs. (4) The 05.1 with trailer, is considered suitable as a "tanker" for refuelling of vebicles? but with the next seriespattempts must be made to install a pump for quicker refuelling and to ihcrease the oil carrying capatity by 3-100. (5) The 05, used as a Pionierwagen 1; can serve to carry pontoons.' To facilitate loading, a winch and pulley will be added. Comment. Combat engineer vehicle.
