1. The Nejdek Wool Carding Mille (Nejdecke cesarny Tlyt>y), Ne3dek, are near the
railroad line on the east side of the town of Nejdek. The Rolava River flows
through the grounds, A spur line from the Ne3dek railroad station serves the
mills.
There are about 2,000 employees in the plant. There are many German specialists
working there who have been there since before World War II. About 80 girls

60 nuns work there also; it is not known where they live. The manager-is Anders
(fnu), a Comlmunist.
3, Most of the employees of the mills live in ae4dek and-either take their meals
at-home or bring them with them. During harvest time, about 500 workmen were
sent to the Karlovy Vary area to help out on the farms.
4. The wool carding mills have their own electric power plant,, which is operated
by a steam engine. The machinery of the mills is new and very modern.
5; wool used to be carded here.. The present wool supply comes from the
USSR, although a small part of it is from Czechoslovakia. Production figures 25X1
are not known, but the Five-tear Plan is being fulfilled 100%. There are no
known cases of.sabotage.
6. Morale of the employees is low, mainly because of delays in-payment of wages;
such delays have run as high as five days. The foremen in the plant are popular,
as they have been working there a long time.
7.. The plant militia has from 150 to 180 members, all armed with rifles. The plant
fire brigade is armed with pistols and shares the''guaxd duty with the militia.
